The ban of the sale of internal combustion engines in the EU from 2035 has been finalised.

In a last minute bid Germany has managed to get the exclusion of cars powered by synthetic fuels (e fuel).

E fuels are used in the same way as fossil fuel in combustion engines.

The fuel is manufactured by drawing carbon out of the air, thereby making it carbon neutral.

The production of this fuel is, however, very limited and expensive at this stage.
